Alison Kieler
Head of ESG, Washington, DC
Alison Kieler is Head of ESG at Emerging Capital Partners (ECP). Ms. Kieler focuses on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) risk identification and management in line with IFC Performance Standards and on internal and external ESG reporting across funds. She leads ESG due diligence processes for prospective investments and works directly with portfolio companies to ensure compliance with ECP’s environmental and social policies and to promote implementation of best practices to enhance development impact. Ms. Kieler manages ECP’s ESG practices, including maintenance of ECP’s ESG Management System, and oversees efforts to enhance portfolio company reporting and data standardization. She also oversees public relations opportunities.
Prior to joining ECP in 2015, Ms. Kieler worked for a start-up fund manager investing in small and medium enterprises in Eurasia. Previously, Ms. Kieler worked in international development while living in the US, Georgia, Tunisia, and Tanzania. In Georgia, Ms. Kieler designed, monitored, and assessed development projects addressing a variety of socioeconomic issues as a Program Officer at World Vision. Prior to that, she served as a business development Peace Corps Volunteer. Ms. Kieler began her career with the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International and has also worked for FINCA Tanzania. She obtained an MA in international development and finance in emerging markets from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), and graduated cum laude from the University of Kansas with a bachelor’s in political science and international studies. Ms. Kieler speaks several languages, including French.
